Technical Features

  1. ITkeys uses native access controls. When a user is given access to update a group the underlying system (e.g. Active Directory) is updated with this access control information. This ensures the product enhances the user interface without risk of compromising the security, which exists within the underlying directory or accounts system.
  2. Can be run on a shared Intranet servers (does not require dedicated server and includes a transparent, manual installation in addtion to a fully automated installation)
  3. Web services programming interface (API) allows separate systems to integrate with the ITkeys system. This allows automation of ITkeys features as well as the information within ITkeys to be integrated with future products and IT services. An example use of the API would be to replace application "access denied" messages. This could allow a user to 'request access' to an application feature directly from the application. One client has used this approach to automate access to web pages.
  4. Uses a fully extensible architecture of 'system providers' to allow for the support of additional commercial / proprietary systems, e.g.
    • NIS
    • OpenLDAP
    • Novell eDirectory
    • New providers will become available depending on customer requirements / feedback.
